But the flower of life design is not very well known outside the new age, spiritual, sacred geometry circles and I am often asked questions about the design. Here I will list some of the questions I have been asked with regards to the Flower of Life and give my best answers for each.

What is the Flower of Life ?

Visually the FOL is a simple overlapping grid of circles, a repeating geometric pattern of overlapping circles of equal radii in two-dimensional space. It is a powerful geometric pattern that replicates how nature designs, and because of this relationship to natural law and natural design is highly regarded as having the divine architects stamp on it..


How does the flower of life work ?

Does a design work? As a power symbol it can be used as a blueprint for meditation and spiritual work.


What is the relationship between the Flower of life and the seed of life?

The “Seed of Life” is formed from seven circles being placed with sixfold symmetry, forming a pattern of circles, this “ Seed of life” serves as a basic component of the Flower of Life’s design. This unique form and proportions has been known to philosophers, architects and artist around the world for thousands of years.

What does the flower of life mean?

It means many things to many people, the main theme is that it is a visual expression of the connections life weaves through all sentient beings. It is also recognised by many as  a map to the source of all that exists, as it shows us how existence begins.


Who created the flower of life?

The source of all that exists was not created, it just is . Like asking who created the universe, or GOD.


Why is the flower of life sacred ?

It is sacred because it so fundamental to all life. A powerful pattern that can be found in nature. But why something is sacred is completely down to the weight we give it, to the story we create around it.


What is the flower of life meditation?

There are many different ways to meditate and many adaptation that use the  flower of life design or ideas in their workings, there is no one flower of life meditation. Below is a cool video to get you started on an inner journey.


Where did the flower of life come from ?

Its origins are based in nature, in the way nature creates and can be found in ancient architecture throughout the whole world. From Pre-Indus occurrence of the FOL pattern and Hittite symbols  to chinese three dimensional variations.The oldest known examples of the Flower of Life are believed to be those present in the Temple of Osiris in Abydos, Egypt.

In loose terms yes a mandala is a spiritual and ritual symbol mainly used and within Hinduism and Buddhism, the mandala designs are meant to be a representation of the universe. The flower of life also represents the universe.

It is found inscribed into architecture throughout the ancient world.

I heard it that the flower of life has its origins in china?

There are many instances of both 3d and 2d representations of the flower of life in China but as noted earlier there are no real origins as it is a universal design that would of revealed itself to many cultures throughout the years as there spiritual disciplines developed.
